Osteoid Osteoma

  • benign bone lesion
  • younger than 30 age group
  • painful, classically relieved with Aspirin
  • long bones
  • reactive sclerotic area with lucent center, vascular nidus (enhances on CT)
  • nidus can calcify
  • difficult to distinguish from osteomyelitits (plain film, CT, and MRI)
  • Nuclear Medicine: double-density sign (increased uptake in reactive sclerosis and nidus)
